“Hempel Award” is Jointly organized by China Fashion Association and Hempel CPTTM Director General Dr Shuen Ka Hung, Representative
International Group. It is a long standing international fashion competition Office of the MSAR in Beijing Director of Office Willa W. Hong,
with competitors from many nations competing in the event. This year is already
its 22nd year. Local and overseas fashion designers aged 35 or under are China Fashion Association President Li Dangqi, and Macao
qualified to enter. The competition received overwhelming responses this designer Ella Lei
year, with approximately 1,600 pieces entering the competition. Macao
designer Ella Lei’s collection, “Serenity”, earned her a place in the final round
of competition. She competed with 28 other top international designers in
Beijing on 25th March 2015.

The theme of this year’s competition is “City Image”. Ella Lei’s 4-piece ladies’
wear collection used grey and tan as her base color scheme, manifesting the
quiet serenity of Macao the small city. A large number of intertwining ropes and
fabric embellishments were used to accessorize the clothes, p o r t r a y i n g th e
countless intertwining relationship between the people in this small city. These
interlinking relationship is the network of life lines that binds and builds the
city.

Ella said that through this competition, she got to know many fashion designers
from all over the world. The opportunity helped to promote exchanges of
ideas, learning from each other through competition, and broadening of their
vision and knowledge about the world.
