In order nurture and raise the interest of young people joining the
fashion industry as well as to encourage them to unleash their
creative potential, CPTTM run its “2014 Macao Fashion Technology
Competition for the Youth” from 12th to 15th August 2014. This
is the 14th year that CPTTM has run this contest. Every year, the
contest draws a large number of youths to participate, helping to
stimulate the interest of a new generation of people in fashion
design and production. Some of the participants also attended
fashion related courses after the contest, working to improve their
skills. Some even enrolled in Bachelor program, turning their interest
into career.
The contest consists of two parts, sewing skills and design skills.
Within four consecutive days (a total of 20 hours), contestants
must finish cutting and sewing a one-piece dress using an industrial
sewing machine. The dress will be in a style specified by the
organizer. The contestants will then need to improve the dress
with their creative design according to the theme specified by the
organizer. This year, the theme is “Musical World”. Before the
contest, CPTTM will hold pre-contest fashion design and production
courses to teach the contestants about sewing and creative
design skills. It aims to improve the psychological readiness of the
contestants as well as to help them to familiarize with the contest
and to invigorate their creative geniuses.
